Fixed Braces
Align your teeth with Fixed Braces from Bespoke Smile
What are Fixed Braces?
- Brackets: These are small squares bonded to each tooth with a special adhesive. They act as handles to hold the wires in place.
- Bands: These are metal rings placed around the back molars or sometimes premolars. Bands provide an anchor for the braces.
- Archwire: This is a thin metal wire that runs through the brackets. It’s the main component that exerts pressure on the teeth.
- Elastics or rubber bands: These may be used to create additional force to move specific teeth or adjust the bite.
The Process of Getting Braces
01. Consultation
Your orthodontist will examine your teeth, take X-rays, and possibly make impressions of your teeth to understand their current alignment. They will discuss treatment options with you and create a customised plan.

03. Adjustments
04. Elastics
05. Dental Hygiene
06. Duration of Treatment
07. Removal of Braces
How do Fixed Braces work?
Fixed braces slowly move your teeth to the correct position whilst applying gentle pressure. Small brackets are bonded to your teeth and then connected with a wire. It’s this wire that is used to create tension, which will put your teeth into proper alignment.
Patients can expect to meet with our orthodontist every four or ten weeks, where we will check your braces and make any relevant adjustments. Over this period we will steadily and regularly tighten and change the wires (all included in the price) so we ensure that your teeth are moving in the right direction.
Our orthodontist might also prescribe springs or elastic bands if the straightening process needs extra help.
The Different Types of Fixed Braces
There are different types of fixed braces suitable for different needs and lifestyles. The choice of braces depends on the severity of the orthodontic issue, aesthetic preferences, and your orthodontists’ recommendation. Each type has its own advantages and limitations, and the best option for you will vary based on their unique needs and preferences.
Our cosmetic dentists can help you identify the right type of fixed brace for you:
Traditional Metal Braces
Lingual Braces
Ceramic Braces

If you are looking to align your teeth, Invisalign is a fantastic option, due to its discretion, convenience, and the short length of treatment time. We are an Invisalign Elite provider and are able to complete complicated cases with the aligner system.
