What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a revolutionary orthodontic treatment that consists of a series of clear, custom-made aligners to straighten teeth and correct various dental issues. Unlike traditional braces with metal wires and brackets, Invisalign aligners are nearly invisible, offering a discreet and comfortable alternative for those seeking a beautifully aligned smile. Invisalign works by putting pressure on the teeth to move them into the desired position.

Invisalign aligners are known for their comfort and convenience. With no metal components causing irritation, and the ability to remove the aligners for short periods, they seamlessly integrate into your daily life.

How does Invisalign work?

Assessment & customised treatment plan

Your Invisalign journey begins with a detailed consultation at Bespoke Smile. During your consultation we will assess the health of your teeth and gums to confirm the foundations are healthy before we begin any orthodontics treatment.

We will then access your bite to determine what movement would be necessary for your desired outcome. We will then take a 3D digital scan of your teeth to plan the exact movements of your teeth, which our expert clinicians will use to create a personalised treatment plan tailored to your unique dental needs.

Planning

Our aligner experts will then begin planning your case, determining the movements that are required to achieve the desired outcome of each tooth. The planning stage can take up to a week and our dentists will liaise with Invisalign to ensure the movements are accurate and precise.

Aligners are manufactured, posted and fitted

Throughout your treatment, you’ll wear a series of transparent aligners, each slightly adjusted to encourage the gradual movement of your teeth. We will fit the aligners to your teeth ensuring the fit is snug, but comfortable, ready for you to begin your Invisalign journey.

Regular maintenance reviews

At Bespoke Smile, we’ll schedule regular reviews to monitor your progress and provide you with your next set of aligners. Each new set continues the precise adjustments, bringing you closer to your desired smile.

Final smile

Once you have completed your Invisalign treatment we will have another look at your smile and see if we need to make any extra refinements. This is all included within your original quote and means our aligner experts will be looking for any final movements that are required to ensure the final outcome is perfect. This means you may require a few more weeks wearing the refined, additional aligners.

Once you have come to the end of your aligner series, you will have any attachments removed, and we’ll fit a fixed wire at the back of the front teeth to keep the teeth in their perfect place. We’ll also provide you with a removable retainer you can use at night to hold the position of the teeth and prevent relapse.

At this stage, most patients are happy with the position of the teeth and may then decide on some final improvements like teeth whitening, or composite bonding. This is something we can discuss with you once the Invisalign treatment is completed.

Invisalign from Bespoke Smile

Invisalign requires careful planning and precise movements to get the desired outcome without any compromises. At Bespoke Smile our dentists have advanced aligner knowledge and special interests in clear aligners. We often see patients who have had Invisalign elsewhere that require corrections due to complications during their treatments. For example, over aligning that needs to be reversed, or patients who were not happy with their outcome and have come to see us to help them reach their expectations.

The benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign is a popular choice for teeth alignment for a variety of reasons:

  • Aesthetic appeal: The clear aligners are virtually invisible, offering a discreet treatment option.
  • Comfortable and removable: Invisalign aligners are removable, allowing you to eat, drink, and maintain oral hygiene more easily than fixed braces.
  • Personalised approach: The treatment is highly personalised, with each set of aligners specifically designed for your unique dental structure.
  • Predictable results: The 3D imaging technology allows for precise planning, ensuring predictable and effective results.
  • Gentle tooth movement: Invisalign aligners use gentle, incremental movements to shift teeth into the desired position. This can result in less overall discomfort compared to the adjustments associated with traditional braces.

Invisalign FAQs

How expensive is Invisalign?

Prices for Invisalign tend to offer patients great value for money. This is because there is a lot included within the cost that will see patients all the way through their consultation to their aftercare.

Our Invisalign costs begin from £3,500, which is very cost-effective when compared to less discreet and longer brace systems.

The cost of Invisalign can be spread over a period of 12/24 months with interest-free payments.

Invisalign is considered a cosmetic brace option, this is because it focuses on the aesthetic appeal of your mouth as well as correcting your oral foundation and alignment. Invisalign is not available on the NHS, and in many cases generally, adults do not receive funding from the NHS for any orthodontic treatment. However, in the case where a patient may need extreme and urgent orthodontic work, the NHS might offer you traditional metal braces.
The duration of Invisalign treatment varies based on individual needs. On average, it can take anywhere from 6 to 18 months, however your cosmetic dentist will provide a personalised timeline during the initial consultation.
One of the main benefits of Invisalign is its near invisibility. The clear aligners make the treatment discreet, allowing you to achieve a straighter smile without the noticeable appearance of traditional braces.
You will need to wear your aligners for the most part of the day – this means wearing them for 22 hours.
Yes, one of the advantages of Invisalign is that the aligners are removable. This allows you to enjoy your favourite foods without restrictions during treatment! Remember to wear them for at least 22 hours a day for optimal results.
Absolutely! Invisalign is a popular choice for adults seeking orthodontic treatment without the appearance of metal braces. It’s an effective and discreet solution for individuals of all ages.
Due to its invisible and removable properties, Invisalign is perfectly matched for adults and young professionals looking to correct bite and misalignment problems quickly, accurately and affordably. However, this has led many people to believe that the treatment is designed solely for adult orthodontic patients. Invisalign is safe to use on children, even as their smile grows. According to the official Invisalign website, children aged 10 would be suitable for the treatment.
While the frequency of visits varies, patients typically have check-ups every 6-8 weeks. These appointments allow the dentist to monitor progress, make any necessary adjustments, and provide you with the next set of aligners.
Invisalign is known for its comfort compared to traditional braces. While some patients may experience mild discomfort or pressure with each new set of aligners, it is generally less than what is associated with traditional braces.
Invisalign has evolved to treat a wide range of orthodontic issues, including crowding, spacing, overbites, underbites, and crossbites. Your cosmetic dentist will assess your specific case during the initial consultation and determine if Invisalign is the right solution for you.
Maintaining good oral hygiene is essential. Clean your aligners with a non-abrasive toothpaste and a soft toothbrush, and rinse them in lukewarm water. Avoid hot water to prevent warping. Additionally, brush and floss your teeth before reinserting the aligners.

While at-home aligners may be more convenient, the personalised care and expertise provided by a professional with Invisalign leads to more successful outcomes and a safer overall experience.
