Can I get Veneers on the NHS? A Guide by Our Private Practice

13/03/2026

With veneers becoming an increasingly popular dental procedure in the UK, it seems that everyone wants a “million-dollar smile”. But exactly how much do veneers cost in the UK and can you get veneers on the NHS?

Although we are a fully private practice and do not offer NHS treatment, we understand that many patients are curious about their options.

In this blog, we’ll explain the NHS guidelines for dental veneers and help you understand your choices. At Bespoke Smile, we are dedicated to providing high-quality private dental care. Even though we do not offer NHS treatments, we believe it’s important to inform our patients about all available options, including those provided by the NHS.

What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers are made of composite resin or porcelain and are customised for the individual in shape, texture and colour. What kind of veneer you have will be decided by your dentist after they have completed a detailed assessment of your teeth.

Veneers typically provide a new surface for the tooth. You can have veneers on an individual tooth, several teeth or on your whole set of teeth.

Can you get veneers on the NHS?

There are a wide range of treatments available on the NHS, some of which are readily available, and some that are only available in specific circumstances. There are different bands of charges for all NHS dental treatments:

  • Band 1 dental treatment: £25.80 – This covers treatments including checkups, X-rays and adjusting braces.
  • Band 2 dental treatment: £70.70 – This covers treatments including fillings and tooth extraction.
  • Band 3 dental treatment: £306.80 – This covers treatments including bridges, crowns, dentures and veneers.

You are only able to qualify for NHS veneers if your dentist decides that there is a clinical need for them. If you do need veneers, and your dentist agrees to carry out the procedure, then this treatment would fall under a ‘Band 3’ treatment fee.

It’s important to note that NHS dental veneers are available only in specific cases where there is a clear clinical need. As a private practice, our services are tailored to those seeking private dental care solutions and follow our own criteria.

Why do people need veneers?

There are a number of reasons that someone might need or want veneers, these include:

  • Worn teeth
  • Uneven teeth
  • Gappy teeth
  • Discoloured teeth
  • Crooked teeth
  • Small teeth
  • Big teeth
  • Filled teeth
  • Teeth that stick out
  • Teeth that stick inward

How much does a full set of veneers cost in the UK on the NHS?

A clinical need for veneers on the NHS would be if your veneers are needed for medical reasons, including pain caused by chipped or damaged teeth or discomfort due to crowded teeth. As we explained above, this would fall into a band 3 treatment which has a charge of £306.80. However, it is very unlikely that you would be able to get a complete set of veneers on the NHS.

Choosing private dental veneers at Bespoke Smile means receiving personalised care, shorter waiting times, and access to the latest dental technologies. Our team is dedicated to providing exceptional outcomes and patient satisfaction.

If you would like veneers to correct cosmetic issues such as gaps between teeth, discolouration, overlapping teeth or teeth that you think are too small or large, these would need to be paid for privately.

If you’re thinking about dental veneers but are put off by the price, then here at Bespoke Smile, we can work with you to find options within your budget. We also offer finance options for up to 24 months to help you spread your payments. Bespoke Smile is dedicated to making high-quality dentistry affordable and easing dental anxiety.

We hope this guide has clarified the differences between NHS and private dental veneers. At Bespoke Smile, our goal is to provide the highest quality private dental care.
