Emax Veneers: Smile Transformation

We select the material of porcelain veneer, that is best suited for each of our
patients. This will depend on the durability or strength we need, the aesthetic
expectations, the colour style or intensity we are aiming for.

It is important that patients see a cosmetic dentist who is able to choose the correct material for their situation, this means that dentist needs to have worked with, and learned about different materials and when/how to use them. Emax is the most widely used for porcelain veneers, and it is a “lithium disilicate” material.

Pros:

Thickness: Can be very thin but also thicker if we need to widen a smile.

Strength: Very strong and durable and resistant to acids and wear.

Aesthetics: Highly aesthetic with differing options which allow a ceramist to introduce various artistic details.

Drilling: Minimal tooth preparation is needed as the veneers can be very thin.

Longevity: Emax veneers can last 10 – 20+ years (or longer) with proper care.

Colour: We can be bespoke in our choices with emax veneers, eg we can choose
translucent (more natural smile), or opaque (more Hollywood smile) versions to suit
your goals for your smile.

Stain: Incredibly stain resistant, and will stay the same for many years to come

Cons:

Cost: Emax veneers are not the cheapest, for good reason, however they do offersome of the strongest value for money.

Not everyone can use it effectively: Sometimes Emax needs to be combined withother materials in order to achieve the desired result, which is complex and a greatdeal of understanding and training is required to do this.

So seeing a dentist andceramist who only place and make porcelain veneers will help you to limit any failures.

Not suitable for every case: A dentist such as (DR SAM JETHWA) has a specialinterest in porcelain veneers, and places thousands per year, therefore is able todetermine the best material for your situation, and to deliver your goals. This can bebased upon many factors.

Are you struggling with your smile?

Veneers are commonly used to treat teeth that are stained, discoloured, chipped, worn down or damaged in any other way.

Dr Sam Jethwa, teaches advanced techniques to dentists across UK, Europe and Africa, on all the uses of ultra thin porcelain veneers. One of the most unknown indications for veneers is tooth wear, and erosion.

Often our patients tell us that they were advised they needed crowns, or dental implants and had no options.

Usually we find a way to use more minimally invasive techniques such as veneers to solve these issues without risking veneers coming off (another common myth we find is that veneers just fall off. That is usually only true if the bite was not fully addressed, by the treatment!) This is a common issue we find with poorly planned treatment.

Create the smile you want, that looks natural

Over time, our teeth may lose their natural whiteness due to a buildup of discolouring from red wine, coffee, tea or smoking.

Although teeth whitening is a great option for this, for some people it is not strong enough and veneers are a more long-term option.

Among the many veneer varieties we offer, Emax veneers are one of our porcelain custom-made solutions.

How Are Emax Veneers Made?

Emax veneers are made using a pressed ceramic which is popular because of its strength and durability, along with the fact that you can use extremely thin material to get impressive sustainable results.

How Long do Emax Veneers Last?

The duration that your veneers last is dependent on how well you look after them. In the same way as natural teeth.

If cared for properly, veneers can last 10 – 20+ years.

See: Aftercare tips

The duration that the veneers last is also dependent on the technique and skill used during the cementing process.

If this is not done correctly, then you have less chance of your veneers lasting for a long time.

How do They Stand out Amongst other Veneer Types?

Today, as cosmetic dentistry research continues to prosper and more impressive and efficient means of achieving a beautiful smile become accessible, there is a range of types of veneers to choose from.

Beyond conventional porcelain veneers, we offer:

It is important to have an initial discussion with your dentist to decipher which type of veneers is best suited for you.

All veneers treat:

Fitting Procedure: What is it like?

Like all veneer procedures, the initial step involves a thorough examination by your dentist.

During this phase, we will check if any additional treatment will be required prior to your fitting and make sure your gums are healthy enough to endure the treatment.

Additionally, you can discuss your concerns fully with your dentist and decipher which type of treatment might be best for you.

A mould will be taken of your old teeth and used to design your new veneer.

It will take a couple of weeks for the mould to be processed at a laboratory and the veneers to be created.

Minimal preparation

It is important to us, and to you, that the teeth underneath the veneers are either not touched at all, or are only minimally touched. Any existing crowns, veneers, and fillings would be removed, and any uneven edges would be smoothed.

The procedure will be carried out under local anaesthetic so it is pain free and minimises discomfort, or in many occasions as the treatment is so superficial no injections are required at all.

A mould will be taken of your teeth and used to design your new veneer. Dr Sam Jethwa will then hand craft each individual tooth to be exactly how he wishes, with your goals, and your preferences in mind.He will use his understanding of facial features, and asymmetries to create a result that is harmonious. This artistic process can take anywhere from 2 – 6 hours depending on the number of teeth we are designing.

Our patients will usually relax to music, or watch Netflix on our ceiling TVs during this procedure.

A week or so later, you would attend for us to review the trial smile, once you have got used to the change:

It will take a couple of weeks for the mould to be processed at a laboratory and the veneers to be created as a copy of the HAND MADE TRIAL SMILE.

When your veneers are ready to be fitted, your teeth will initially receive a deep cleaning and the front of the teeth coated with a special gel to increase the adhesiveness for bonding. A high – tech bonding light and a specially customised cement are used to fix the veneers in place.

What kind of aftercare is required?

The quality of aftercare you provide for your veneers will determine the duration that they last.

The aftercare required for your veneers is similar to that required for your normal teeth; e.g. floss regularly and brush your teeth twice daily and maintain a good diet.

You can use most regular oral care products with veneers.
