How Can I Get A Smile Like Meghan Markle’s?

15/09/2020

Meghan Markle possesses the ultimate accessory…no, not just a price on her arm! But a bright and beautiful smile.

Combining some of the aspects of Hollywood glamour with her white and straight teeth, she also enjoys a realistic naturalness that makes her smile appear genuine and down-to-earth.

However, she did not always have a smile like this. When she was younger, she had a slight gap between her two front teeth.

It appears she did undergo some dental treatment that may have involved orthodontic straightening and porcelain veneers, possibly with teeth whitening.

The perfect symmetry of Meghan’s face means that she naturally produces a smile that is big, authentic and shows off her teeth.

There are various ways we can help you to obtain a similar smile to Meghan Markle, depending on the initial situation that you present with.

We want you to be confident with your smile and to feel good about yourself.

Your bespoke smile depends on a number of factors including the gums and lips which frame your smile, so any treatment needs to address your unique situation.

Wide smile

The beauty of Meghan’s smile is that it is suits her facial structure. Just like the actress Julia Roberts, her smile is proportional to the width of her face.

Her teeth completely fill her smile and when you look at the corners of her mouth, there are no narrow dark shadows at the side.

The Duchess of Sussex has a wide, full smile and we can help create this with teeth straightening treatments like Invisalign or ultra thin veneers.

Feminine shape

While Meghan’s teeth are straight, they are not perfectly straight. She has a feminine curvature to several of her teeth which helps her smile look appropriate to her appearance.

Subtle discrepancies provide a natural dimension to her look, while the contours of her teeth suit the shape of her face.

Straight teeth often look whiter because there is less overlap between them. They are easier to clean and therefore less prone to staining.

You can achieve straight front teeth by using braces, particularly where teeth have significant crowding or a misaligned bite.

Invisalign is the leading provider of clear braces that gradually move uneven teeth to give patients straight, even and open smiles.

Placing veneers on your teeth will create a more uniform smile and can address multiple issues including worn, uneven and gappy teeth amongst others.

Dr Sam Jethwa places around 1000 veneers per year for his patients, transforming many smiles safely and predictably without damage to the natural teeth.

In the image you will see some veneers that Dr Jethwa replaced for our patient, who already had masculine looking veneers that did not look bespoke or natural for her face.

Colour and shine

While Meghan’s smile is undisputedly white, it isn’t too white. There are slight disparities in the colour that convey a sense of natural variation.

White teeth can really stand out and look dazzling, but the colour of your teeth is incredibly unique to you and so when whitening them it is important to ensure you whiten to the right white for you.

Meghan has a very natural shade to her teeth and her ‘white’ balances and harmonises her face.

Teeth whitening is a popular and safe treatment and provides a quick and simple improvement to your smile.

Lip symmetry

A lovely smile has the right amount of gum showing. Meghan has a high top lip line sitting just above the upper teeth and her smile flows seamlessly with the shape of her lips.

Lip fillers can be used to enhance your natural facial features. They can be used to volumize as well as to provide more definition to your lips. Our Dr Natalie, often seen on ITV News,

While there is little doubt that Meghan Markle has had cosmetic dentistry, the results are subtle to complement her look rather than to draw attention.
