WHAT BESPOKE SMILE HAS LEARNT THROUGH THE LOCKDOWN
We all are going through something that is unprecedented, and unlike anything we expected. New challenges face us, but what we at Bespoke Smile always like to do is see the opportunity that experiences can bring. We see patients at our clinic that have been afraid, or suffered previous dental experiences that they wish to forget – and so we are very much used to seeing the best in things for our patients, even when it may not seem like there is – we believe there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
Being there for our patients
As our patients know, we as a team build relationships with our patients, and this means a great deal to us. We decided that communication channels should remain open despite the clinic doors being closed so our patients can contact by:
- Phone
- DM on Instagram
- Facebook Messenger
Our dentists all being on hand to reassure, or give advice, for our own patients but also new patients at no cost, who may not be able to reach their dentists helped us to do our part for the Marlow and wider community.
We have been able to triage patient emergencies and direct them to our dentists, or pharmacies, which means that the very stretched 111 services can have a reduced number of dental phone calls when they need to be available for more urgent health concerns, or COVID-19 patients.

Video Consultations
Choosing a dentist for cosmetic dentKistry is not an easy task, we will soon be publishing our guide in our next blog! In the meantime, during the lockdown and whilst we are being asked to #stayhome we are embracing technology at Bespoke Smile in the innovative way that we always do, by offering Video Consultations with our dentists. These video consultations for new patients mean that anyone thinking about improving their smile can get the answers, and information they need, from the dentist themselves, without needing to visit the clinic, at no cost. The dentist can also advise on cost of treatments, and give you an idea of different payment options.
We have used video technology to see our patients for trial smile review appointments for some time, and we have used video software to conduct consultations for our patients who live abroad and are travelling to us. This helps us to get to know the people behind the smiles, before they make a long trip to see us. During the lockdown, this also speeds up assessment times for patients when they do come into the clinic for their comprehensive assessment as we will have been through many helpful details during the video consultation.
Team Socialising
Our close knit team, have been organising group video quiz nights through lockdown. From their homes, our team despite not being in the clinic, with our lovely patients. This has meant we have been able to keep in touch, share some laughs, and learn a bit about things non-dental – through the tough quiz questions set by the team.
The whole team has been developing their key skills, and taking part in our own in house training using online training platforms, we are able to keep up the skills and attitudes maintained, that have created such a welcoming, and safe environment at the clinic.
Dr Sam Jethwa and Dr Gurs Sehmi have both been invited to provide online webinar training for dentists across the world. Over 500 dentists registered for Dr Sam Jethwa’s webinar during lockdown with, The British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry – on the topic of bespoke hand sculpted trial smiles, for porcelain veneers. Our leading award winning clinicians are well respected across the globe, and through the power of technology such as webinars, Instagram Lives, and Youtube have been able to provide this education free of charge to dentists, who also find themselves unable to work in their clinics. Our Bespoke Smile Academy has limited numbers of trainees each year, and spaces sell out fast – this way we have been able to give more dentists the opportunity to learn from our revered dentists from the comfort of their own homes.

Keeping you safe…
At Bespoke Smile we take cleanliness, disinfection procedures, and equipment very seriously. The dentist can often be one of the cleanest places to visit, and we hold regular training in these areas to maintain these standards. Despite this, we want to be sure that when we get back to work, we are in the best possible position to keep patients, and our team, safe. This is why Bespoke Smile will have the correct PPE, and introduce any extra procedures and protocols that are recommended so we can continue to provide the best quality dentistry, with the safest protocols for our patients. When you visit us next, you may see antibacterial gel on the reception desk ready for you to use, along with our team in aprons masks, and visors – this is all to keep you safe. We already have installed push and pull doors in the clinics to avoid germs being spread by door handles, and you may find our care nurses wipe surfaces after they have been touched. All of this, is done to keep everyone in the environment safe, and we will introduce these as part of our “universal precautions” so soon, it just becomes the norm.

With so much in the news regarding businesses and how difficult these times have been, and are going to be, we want to reassure our existing patients and new patients that we are coming back as strong as we were when the lockdown began. Through the commitment and support of our directors, we have been able to retain a strong team, maintain our site, provide behind the scenes financial support, and invest where needed to keep the business in a strong position going forwards. There will be no price increases this year, there will be no changes to our warranties and guarantees on treatment, and no changes to the cosmetic, and general treatments that we offer – we began with one goal…to change peoples lives through the power of the highest quality, most bespoke, and artistic, dentistry to deliver the healthiest, long-lasting smiles – and long will that be the case.
