What are Emax Veneers?

Revamp your smile with flawless Emax Veneers: unlock your perfect smile

Emax veneers have gained popularity worldwide over recent years and were developed by Ivoclar Vivadent, a leading company in the field of dental ceramics. These veneers are crafted from a thin and slightly translucent lithium glass ceramic material. They are custom-made to fit each patient’s teeth and are securely bonded to them.

Known for their exceptional durability, Emax veneers are considered to be one of the sturdiest options available. With proper dental hygiene, they can last between 10 and 15 years.

What is the procedure for Emax veneers?

The procedure will be carried out under local anaesthetic so it is pain-free and minimises discomfort, or in many occasions, as the treatment is so superficial, no injections are required at all.

These veneers are typically custom-made for each patient by a dental laboratory, based on impressions or digital scans of the patient’s teeth. A mould will be taken of your teeth and used to design your new veneer. Dr Sam Jethwa will then handcraft each individual tooth. This process can take anywhere from 2 – 6 hours depending on the number of teeth that are being created. These will be fitted as a temporary veneer, to test the look and feel of the new veneers.

Handmade Trial

A week or so later, you will return and let us know how you got on, and if there are any changes you’d like made. It will then be a couple of weeks for the mould to be processed at a laboratory and the veneers to be created as a copy in the final Emax material.

The process usually involves either minimal or no tooth preparation; if preparation is needed, a small amount of enamel is removed from the front surface of the teeth to accommodate the veneers. When your veneers are ready to be fitted, your teeth will initially receive a deep cleaning and the front of the teeth coated with a special gel to increase the adhesiveness for bonding. A high–tech bonding light and specially customised cement are used to fix the veneers in place. The Emax veneers are then bonded to the prepared teeth using dental adhesive.

The benefits of Emax veneers

Emax veneers are highly regarded in the field of cosmetic dentistry due to their durability and natural appearance. They are designed to closely match the colour and translucency of natural teeth, providing a seamless and lifelike result. The material used in Emax veneers is known for its strength, which allows for thinner veneers to be created while still maintaining their resilience and longevity.

These veneers serve multiple purposes, including the correction of tooth colour, shape (such as worn, damaged, or short teeth), and the concealment of gaps or misalignments between teeth. Primarily focused on enhancing aesthetics, Emax veneers are typically applied to incisors, canines, and sometimes premolars.

  • The slightly translucent nature of Emax veneers allows light to pass through them, creating a lifelike appearance that closely resembles natural teeth.
  • Emax veneers are known for their strength and longevity, offering a long-lasting solution for smile enhancement.
  • The placement of Emax veneers typically requires minimal removal of tooth enamel, preserving the majority of the tooth structure.
  • Emax veneers are individually crafted to suit each patient’s unique dental characteristics, ensuring a precise and personalised fit.
  • The shade of Emax veneers can be carefully selected to match or improve the colour of adjacent teeth, creating a seamless blend.
  • Emax veneers are highly resistant to stains, allowing for a long-lasting, bright, and vibrant smile.
  • Emax veneers can address a wide range of cosmetic dental concerns, including discolouration, chips, cracks, gaps, and misalignment of teeth.
  • The process of placing Emax veneers is generally considered minimally invasive, offering a comfortable treatment experience for patients.

However, it’s important to note that the lifespan of Emax veneers can vary depending on individual factors, such as oral hygiene practices, habits like teeth grinding or clenching, and regular dental check-ups.

Follow these aftercare tips as a guide to extending the life of your composite veneers:

  • Brush twice per day.
  • Floss daily and use mouthwash.
  • Avoid chewing on hard objects. This means avoiding tearing open packages with your teeth, nibbling on your nails, or teeth grinding.
  • Visit the dentist bi-annually for teeth cleanings and routine check-ups.
  • Make sure to use non-abrasive toothpaste.
  • Wear a mouthguard while playing sports.

Understanding the costs of Emax veneers

Generally, Emax veneers tend to be one of the more expensive options for veneer materials due to their high-quality and aesthetic benefits. It’s important to keep in mind that the cost of Emax veneers includes not only the materials but also the dental consultations, tooth preparation, custom fabrication of the veneers, and the professional placement procedure.

While Emax veneers may involve a significant investment, most will find the long-lasting and natural-looking results are well worth the cost. It is recommended to consult with a dentist to get an accurate estimate of the costs based on individual needs and circumstances.

If you’re looking for a single Emax veneer, or would like to transform your whole smile, we offer 0% finance plans to help you spread your payments for up to 24 months.
