They are often referred to as no-prep veneers. No shaving of the natural teeth is required in many cases. Ultra thin veneers treatments are a part of our specialist dental services. They are the most popular choice of veneers amongst our patients. Learn more about how you can get finance for dental treatments.
We have all heard of or seen people with old-fashioned porcelain veneers. These veneers had to be thick to be strong enough and required more drilling of the natural tooth than would be ideal. Times have changed, and the goals now are to produce aesthetic results with Ultra Thin porcelain veneers, which require either minimal or no drilling of the natural tooth.
Ultra Thin veneers treatments from Bespoke Smile are 4x thinner than traditional veneers, more durable, and more aesthetic. We no longer place ‘traditional’ veneers, with our lead technician Dr. Sam Jethwa is at the forefront of the development of these ultra-thin porcelain veneers.
This means that the tooth tissue beneath the veneer will not be weakened. If you want to learn more about this technique, meet our patient care coordinators, or our cosmetic dentists – who are known for this treatment.
Although the veneer treatment generally requires less tooth preparation than people often assume, the ultra-thin treatment demands even less. This reduces the likelihood of the teeth becoming weakened, especially since the ultra-thin veneers then provide a protective layer over the original teeth.
The bonding stage of the treatment is carried out mainly on the outer surface of the tooth, meaning the bond is extremely high and the veneers are likely to last a long time (as long as they are cared for correctly).
The drill is not used to make holes in any of your teeth, though it can be used to roughen the surface of the enamel which is one stage of the bonding process.
Since hardly any enamel has been removed, patients are less likely to experience post-op sensitivity after treatment.
Our patients repeatedly leave our practice satisfied with their results and proud of their new smiles.
One benefit of having a minimally invasive treatment is that the treatment is more likely to last longer since the tooth structure beneath the veneer has not suffered any weakening. They are also 4x thinner than traditional veneers, meaning we can minimise or completely avoid drilling your teeth.
If cared for correctly veneers can last up to 20+ years, but we say on average 10–15, and you will need to come to the dentist for normal regular check–ups, as one would without veneers, to ensure everything is healthy.
With ultra-thin veneers the teeth may require absolutely no shaving or drilling at all. These are known as ‘no-prep veneers’ and also means you won’t undergo anaesthetic, making them a good option for those who suffer from dental anxiety or phobias.
It is important to us that the tooth’s structure is not damaged during treatment, as the preservation of enamel will mean longer lasting results and reduce any risk of complications. However, you should keep in mind that like most of our treatments we promote a bespoke approach.
This means that the details of each treatment are case-specific since we want to find the perfect solution for your teeth rather than repeating the same procedure for all of our patients regardless of their needs.
Ultra-thin veneers are often between 0.2 and 0.5 mm in thickness, and since the application is extremely intricate, it is something that you would not want just any dentist attempting.
Our team of caring dental staff and skilled dentists at Bespoke Smile have a wide range of experience in multiple fields of cosmetic dentistry and are highly experienced in providing the optimum level of care for our patients.
The Bespoke Smile Way
We’re dedicated to providing the optimum levels of care for our patients; this includes the long term. For any procedure we undertake, we will always minimise the prep required to the teeth, whether this is shaving or drilling.
The Bespoke Smile concept on tooth preparation is: The veneer could be removed, and the tooth would be fully functional again with no, or minimal treatment.
We have been at the forefront of technological developments in cosmetic dentistry and shifts in modern ceramic materials have transformed porcelain veneer techniques. Extremely thin veneers can now be made without the need for extensive filing of the enamel, and they don’t appear too bulky for the teeth.
The main goal of a minimally–invasive procedure is to carry out the least amount of damage on the tooth structure to preserve the original enamel they can be used to deal with multiple different outcomes, watch our before and after case reviews here.

Together, whilst planning your treatment we will consider your goals and desires for your smile and discuss what treatment will be the best for you.
If necessary, ultra-thin veneers can be combined with alternative orthodontic treatments including teeth straightening. If you require teeth straightening, it may be beneficial to have this done before your ultra-thin veneer fitting. Book a consultation to find out if this.
It is important that your teeth are healthy and that you do not suffer from any health issues such as gum disease that may weaken your teeth. If that is the case, that is something we will always address before we place veneers, or during your treatment.
We have an on-site periodontist (gum specialist) who is part of our clinical team.

Traditional veneers were around 1-2mm thick, however we have now developed ultra thin porcelain veneers that can be 0.3-0.5mm and are even stronger than before! Ultra Thin veneers from Bespoke Smile are 4x thinner than traditional veneers, more durable, and more aesthetic.
Our expert ceramists have custom-designed a unique blend of stunning porcelain veneers, making Bespoke Smile veneers consistent for 10–20 years (when maintained with regular hygienist visits and annual dental check-ups)
If ultra thin veneers have been used, which are kind to the teeth, and the patient has a healthy mouth, veneers can last far beyond 10 years. The important thing is to maintain veneers in the same way as natural teeth, and if they were replaced, the teeth underneath are intact and healthy, so another thin veneer can be used, rather than a full crown or dental implant
